I bought a groupon for 10 sessions for kickboxing lessons. I signed up with them for a year contract - bad mistake. The lady there assured me that my membership will start as soon as my groupons expire AND I have already paid for the first month upon contract signing.

Well...news to me the company they work with IMMEDIATELY started charging me...whatver she told me was BOGUS.

Unfortunately my financial situaiton changed and I have started having family problems with my father being very ill. I have explained this to them and THEY DO NOT CARE. Only want your money.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM.

Business ethics is horrible as well with their business policy.

Monetary Loss: $2000.

Sounds like you didn't read your contract!

I second this, this GYM has no ethics when it comes to canceling. They require a 30 day notice of cancelation which gives them one more monthly fee, $195 on cancelation fee, and your last payment that that you pay when you sign up is gone.

Terrible business model. If we continue signing up they will harm more customers that face a variety of family issues, or financial hardships.

Usually the only way to come from a contract is under medical advice. Receiving a note from your physician may guard against that but PLEASE read your fine print. They gym is shady no matter how many questions you ask. Yes I almost was caught but I dodged that bullet.

They did the same thing to me through a Groupon. Frisco Texas is the worst.

The people there have no customer service skills and when you have questions they’re all too busy to return calls. The workout itself was okay but worth what they charge to hear them hit you up for more stuff every class. They don’t refund anything to anyone. Monay the helpless woman who signed me up all of sudden couldn’t communicate when I had issues. She even lied to me and said the gym called me to check on how things were doing.

No one ever returned any of my calls. I hate this place I have never felt so cheated out of anything before and treated like nothing. Corporate is a joke too they just direct you to a local gym. This place has no one in charge.

I hate I love kickboxing and I have it all over my social media. Hope everyone stays away from Frisco Texas especially.

They’ll rob you blind then tell you oh well we can’t help you. Stay away!

They are unscrupulous and will not allow you to cancel. They have put a lot of thought into their predatory sales tactics.

First of all, they offer "special intro prices" such as 5 classes for $17. Then they herd you around like cattle after your first workout, mind you most people are mentally and physically drained and will do anything to go home. The "manager" literally positioned himself between me and the door. I told him it was terrible timing, because I was uncertain about my job situation and was uncomfortable signing a 12 month contract for $125/month.

He said if finances became a problem, he would cancel the membership. He said, "I'm the manager. I can do anything I want." Yeah, riiiight. And no, I didn't get that in writing.

I have a terrible problem saying no to people, so I thought I would just cancel in my 3 day grace period. I still had my 5 classes, right? Nope! They said they were included in my membership.

On day 2, I tried to cancel, and the instructor started yelling at me, "You need someone to hold you accountable! You obviously can't hold yourself accountable! It's not about the fu$@ing money!" I just wanted her to stop yelling at me, so I left. She also told me the manager would have to take care of the cancellation, but he wasn't available until after my 3 day grace period.

Their gimmick is that they call you, email you, or FB message you to hold you accountable if you haven't been to class, but nobody would talk to me about cancelling. Well, not surprisingly, my financial situation took a hit, and I had no money to pay their ridiculous membership fees. I even have a FB message that shows the manager read my message but never responded. They also have a "purple gloves club" for members who write enough positive reviews on different websites.

They prey on people who often don't feel good about themselves, who physically don't feel well after their first intense workout, they entice you with intro deals they never intend to honor, they make themselves unavailable during your cancellation grace period, and won't respond to further attempts. Is this legal???

I have been a member of many gyms and bought many cars in my life, and this experience far exceeds any sales pressure I have ever had! They are HORRIBLE people!

Thanks for the review. I'm definitely cancelling before the 3 day cancel window ends.

I get its a contract but really to get you to sign so quickly and they act as if they are there to help you? You never get the feeling that it's that serious!

I should've have stopped and took the contract to a lawyer or really really have READ it before signing. Not to mention I bought the trial thing or package or whatever but they didn't lose time and pretty much pressured me as well as the other girls that were there that day.

I wish I read the reviews of how hard cancelling would be or simply that it's a business and they DONT CARE about my wellbeing. It's all about the money!

What a great place! The atmosphere is amazing, the workers are so helpful and nice, I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to learn or continue their education in kickboxing!

Guest

yes, i just tried to cancel and they said you can only cancel if 1) you moved 25 miles away from the club, 2) have an injury that will hinder your movement for 6 months and/or you change your membership with the 64 times for 125 a month for 3 months! I'm pissed!

They did NOT tell me this when I signed up and I should Have asked them!! NOT GOOD--is this legal???

That's true, but report them to the BBB and you lodge a complaint consumer affairs and the health department. You begin to make their lives uncomfortable.

Call and write your credit agency with a temple of why this should not be on your credit report for 3 to six months and they should remove it.

But make sure you are factual and precise with your writing.Google how to fight negative reports and fight. My score went from 500 and less to 730 in two years.FIGHT

Most of the review I'm reading is about not getting a refund, Don't sign a contract and expect your money back *** it's a business and something you agreed to. Just because your situation changed doesn't mean they need to be lenient too.

But anyhow ... Does anyone have any real reviews based on service, cleanliness, the classes themselves, instructors.

that's not what the consumer protection act says about a legal contract. It should have a cancellation clause and the contract should be clear so that person signs understand all the clauses.

You are a business owner? Is that how you steal people's money.

I hope Karma or whatever evil catches with your act.

Classes get really packed sometimes and you have to share a bag. You have to use their huge ugly gloves, no fingerless gloves..

Cleanliness is ok. Instructors are ok.

Some are jerks. Classes can get boring.
